| ILE’s Dr. Blake Cherrington is collaborating with Dr. Joel Sokol and Dr. Steve Hackman of Georgia Tech’s Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering to improve the effectiveness and satisfaction of students in ISyE’s senior design classes. In March, 2007 Cherrington and Sokol interviewed a group of students representing six different teams that had previously completed the senior design process to determine the typical teamwork problems encountered, and how each team responded. These interviews resulted in a plan to provide an early orientation to effective teamwork for senior design students in the fall of 2007, and to follow up with coaching of students and teams on an ‘as requested’ basis. An ongoing assessment of teamwork problems and student satisfaction will be used to guide the intervention and to determine its effectiveness. | | | | Research Team | Blake Cherrington, PhD  Georgia Tech
