The Institute for Leadership and Entrepreneurship (ILE) is an interdisciplinary unit of Georgia Tech that enhances leadership and entrepreneurship for socially responsible and sustainable value creation.
Housed in Georgia Tech's College of Management building at Technology Square, ILE bridges units on and off campus to increase and enhance the opportunities available to those who want to be effective leaders in a complex, global arena.
ILE supports global citizenship and responsible leadership among students, faculty and members of the business community. ILE encourages individuals and organizations to create added value by focusing on a triple bottom-line. Through increased class offerings and coordinated activities, ILE empowers students and others from every industry and discipline to take the economical, social and environmental impacts of their actions into consideration when making everyday business decisions.
Bringing together students, researchers, business leaders, social proprietors, and other members of the global community, ILE’s activities generate a unique and powerful synergy that stimulates change at the core-level.
ILE’s interdisciplinary environment increases awareness beyond the individual and facilitates deeper thought and more coordinated, attentive choices. The skills and knowledge that students gain from their ILE experiences will be invaluable to them throughout their personal and professional lives.

2009 Business Plan Competition
This year’s Business Plan Competition featured a wide variety of submissions with over 50 teams registering to compete in eight different categories for a grand total of $45,000 in professional services and more than $26,000 in cash awards. This year also marked the Inaugural Ideas to SERVE (Socially and Environmentally Responsible Value Enhancement) competition that unlike the main BPC did not require a full blown business plan submission as it encouraged participants to present projects in ‘idea’ phase. Participants of the I2S track were judged on their identification of an important problem, the innovativeness of the solution proposed, and the feasibility of the solution to ensure success.
With generous support from the College of Management and businesses across Atlanta (see sponsors) the 2009 BPC offered participants 8 workshops, 4 main events, the chance to compete for 8 awards, the opportunity to receive feedback and advice from experts in the field and in the same time build connections with influential leaders of the Atlanta business community.
